The Archaeological Museum is accommodated in a building of 1935 which was renovated and expanded in the years 1989-1999. In an exhibition of 2376 sm with 18 galeries and 1700 objects you will admire collections from the 7th century B.C. to the 7th century A.D. In the museum, there is available an underground space with ruins of the classical and the roman era which are discernible but not visited.
The museum is the most significant of its kind in the eastern Macedonia and Thrace. There are exposed samples of ceramics, sculpture, coins, inscription and statues. Out of the exhibits, Kouros stands out in a height of 3.5 meters, along with the statues of Andrianos and Pegasus. There are also men’s and women’s heads as well as anastatic representations.
